Dining room renovation

How we got to this (Aug 2014)

New windows from https://www.quickslide.co.uk/ were fitted before we started the rest of the refurb on the dining room.  The old timber windows were to be replaced with plastic sash windows which we had seen on another old property in the area and liked the look of them. We purchased the new windows from https://www.quickslide.co.uk/. We had looked at lots of alternatives for the windows but after seeing some Quickslide windows newly fitted on a house locally and speaking to the homeowners we decided they were the best fit for our house.  Traditional but modern without changing the look of the house. Quickslide are a great company to deal with from ordering to delivery 5*.

The next job was to strip off all the wallpaper

The bay windows stripped back

We removed the old fireplace

and there it was gone

Found this on the chimney breast - signed off the previous decorator

These divided doors all had to be stripped too

Then Gary drafted in his joiner friend to help make them into opening doors, rather than separate sections which had to be lifted out individually

Once everywhere was plastered we had the new ceiling rose fitted
(this is a replica of a rose taken from a church in Slovenia)
We can highly recommend http://www.classicplastermoulds.com/

Needed 3 people to fit it

New chandelier ready to be fitted

We also had the coving repaired too (before)

the rail on the ceiling was missing for half of the room ??

Coving repaired (after)

Decided on a gold theme colour scheme

Next job was to have the new fireplace fitted - we bought a reclaimed slate fire and tiled insert

We left it to the experts to fit

Finally finished stripping off all the paint from the skirting boards

Then it was time to paint

Glossing the doors

Wallpapering the chimney breast

At last ready for the carpet and curtains

New pelmet fitted

Gorgeous new curtains by AFW Interiors, Skippers Lane, Middlesbrough. Highly recommended http://afw-interiors.co.uk/

All done time to celebrate

Lovely new room just in time for Christmas - worth all of the hard work

xx
