Ensuite for guestroom

We have made the small bedroom next to the guest bedroom into an ensuite

This photo below is the room as it was - the room was not really big enough to be used as a bedroom

The whole room was stripped right back to bare brick

Then the original doorway off the landing was bricked up and a new door way made from the guestroom, so we could utilize the space available

The original door and door frame were used for the new doorway

As the pantry is directly below the ensuite Gary decided to take out the floor in the new room to make it easier to add the new pipe work required, and also so he could re lay the floor in the ensuite with new boards so it was nice and flat for tiling.

It was a messy job

It was nice to get the pantry back in place

Once the pipe work was installed the floor could then be put back down

Once the floor was laid it was then time to start plaster boarding the walls

and building the stud partition for the shower space

and preparing the pipe work for the wash hand basin

A new window was also fitted to match the rest of the house from https://www.quickslide.co.uk/

The spotlights and new extractor fan were also fitted

Then we installed the under floor heating ahead of laying the tile floor

Before proceeding with laying the tiles we checked the best layout for the pattern on the tiles - so when you walked in the room it looked right

The tiles are "Laura Ashley" and we felt they are in keeping with the style of the house

We made good progress

It was thirsty work ha ha

I love the stage where the room starts coming together

The walls tiles really made it feel like we were getting there

Love the choice of tiles and colour scheme

Testing the shower

Current state of the guest room ! this will be the next project - great view of the Eston hills if you leave the door open in the ensuite a "loo with a view" !!

Final photos of the ensuite - quite a transformation

Now to renovate the guestroom !

Onwards and upwards
