Guest room renovation

Started working on the guestroom in Jan 2019

Was worth all of the hard work over the moon with the finished result

With my husband been a self employed builder our house gets little bits done in-between jobs

As with all the rooms we have renovated @ Greenbank they get stripped back to bear brick and "re-built"

Not much mess !!

Ceiling down

Plenty of rubble - so surprising where it all comes from

All stripped

The chimney breast came out to make the room bigger and to allow the bed to go into a different position now there is a door into the new en-suite from the guest room

Boarding walls ready to plaster

Then it was time to take the the windows out in preparation for new bay windows

Again we used https://www.quickslide.co.uk/ for original looking sash windows.  Always fantastic customer service.

Gary loves a good bit of scaffolding

With the help of an old school friend we built the new frames for the new windows

They had to be boarded up until we got the new windows

Gary drove down to Brighouse near Leeds to collect the windows this time as we needed them asap

They fitted perfect

Gary's Easter weekend was spent dressing the outside of the windows to make them water tight before it rained.  He did a fantastic job.

Then it was time for us to get the new coving and ceiling rose fitted

We used https://classicplastermoulds.co.uk/ their work is first class

Then the bit I like - we started decorating the room

The colour scheme was to be hydrangea and light grey with a black antique bed and chandelier

We used Laura Ashley wallpaper on the feature wall

It was all coming together nicely

Lovely to find little snippets of time's gone by in "Greenbank". While painting the door frame from the guestroom to the new ensuite we found this.  The room that is now the ensuite used to be the old linen closet !!!

I upcycled some old furniture for the room using "winter grey" chalk paint

Old pine bedside tables

Striped right back

I had a lovely sunny weekend in the garden for my first upcycling project

I was really pleased with how they turned out and the antique pewter hammer effect handles looked great

I also upcycled an old dressing table

Quite a transformation

We dressed the chandelier ready for it to be wired up

Once the carpet was fitted we erected the bed and started putting in the finishing touches - my bedside tables looked great in their new home

I framed some photos for the walls that I had taken of Runswick Bay and Saltburn beach

Finally all sorted

And relax............................
